Feature Your Folklore: Funding Available through Legends & Lore Roadside Marker Program
Does your community have a great piece of folklore that should be shared? Join us to learn more about the Legends & Lore Roadside Marker program from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. Legends & Lore is designed to promote cultural tourism and commemorate legends and folklore as part of our heritage. The OAC is partnering with the Pomeroy Foundation to bring these engaging Ohio-made markers to communities across the state at no cost to successful applicants. Learn how to put together a strong application from Pomeroy Foundation representative Jodi Oaks and Krystal Luketic of the Waynesville Area Heritage and Cultural Center, recipient of Ohio’s first Legends & Lore grant. Applications for the next round of available funding are due May 1!

Cristina Benedetti
Folk and Traditional Arts Contractor @Ohio Arts Council
Cristina Benedetti is the Ohio Arts Council’s folk and traditional arts contractor. She received her Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in 2018 with a specialization in folklore studies. Cristina is the Ohio coordinator for Mid Atlantic Arts’ Central Appalachia Living Traditions program and for the William G. Pomeroy Foundation’s Legends & Lore Roadside Marker program.
Jodi Oaks
@William G. Pomeroy Foundation
Jodi Oaks joined the Pomeroy Foundation in 2019 to work exclusively on the National Votes for Women Trail. Following the conclusion of the program, Jodi transitioned to her current role as senior research historian and grants reviewer for several of the foundation's signature marker programs. Jodi oversees the administration of the Legends & Lore Marker Grant Program, working to ensure marker applications are complete and accurate. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from SUNY Oneonta and a master’s degree in information and library science from SUNY Buffalo. Jodi has worked as an academic librarian and historical researcher.
Krystal Luketic
@Waynesville Area Heritage and Cultural Center
Krystal Luketic is a community organizer, educator, and event facilitator based in Waynesville, Ohio. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for 18 years and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Waynesville Area Heritage and Cultural Center as publicity chair and a member of the grants committee. The cultural center is focused on preserving the history of Waynesville and surrounding areas in Warren County. Krystal is also the founder and coordinator of Homeschool Naturalists, a regional homeschool group who partners with local organizations to provide nature-based learning opportunities for homeschoolers, including collaborations with the Caesar Creek Nature Center Association and Ohio State Park Naturalists.
